The most significant difference between the two permanent eyebrow techniques is how the pigment is added to the skin. Microblading is done using a handheld tool to create realistic looking hair strokes, whereas Powder/Ombré Brows uses a handheld machine to place tiny dots of pigment into the brow, giving the look of a powdered brow.
Powder/Ombré brows are a semi-permanent make-up procedure using a machine to place tiny little dots of pigment into the skin to create a powder effect on the brow, resembling the look of makeup. The procedure is a two-step process (initial insertion of pigment & touch-up four to six weeks later). They are semi-permanent, in that most fade over time if no additional procedure is performed.
The tails of the brow are darker, and as you move towards the front of the brow it starts to fade. Ombré brow last longer than microblading, typically around two years on average. Results are not determined until touch-up application is completed.
Ombré Brows can last for one to three years. A touch-up is required four to six weeks after the initial appointment. Clients that choose a soft look, light color shade, or did not follow the after care instructions may require more touch-up appointments.
Factors that will cause your semi-permanent brow tattoo to fade faster:
Tanning bed / sun exposure
Exfoliating
Oily skin
Medical conditions
Pain varies from person to person. You may have some discomfort, but a safe topical anesthetic cream will be applied to ease the procedure for you.
Yes! Semi-permanent makeup is a tattoo; I insert pigment into the top layers of the skin and the pigments I use are medical grade, so it is safe and suitable for any facial area.
There is a 7-14 day healing period. During that time, you will need to avoid water saturation of the brows and sweating (so no working out!). Refer to the before & aftercare instructions for specific details.
The procedure is broken into two sessions and typically results are best once both appointments are complete. The first appointment takes approximately two to three hours. This appointment includes the consultation, brow mapping/shaping, skin numbing, and the procedure. Touch-up appointments are approximately 1.5 hours long.
